All clubs will begin on Monday 12th January.

On Thursday 8th January we have a script read through, and it would be amazing if all the cast could attend. This rehearsal will finish at 4.30pm.

Rehearsals will then take place on Tuesday and Wednesday each week, 3.15 - 5.00 pm.
On Thursday there will be dance rehearsals from 3.15 - 4.30pm.

Not all of the children will be involved each week. On Thursday 8th January, all the children will receive a rehearsal schedule and this will tell you when they are needed for rehearsals. If your child is unable to attend a rehearsal or performance, please let Mrs Corbett or myself know as soon as possible.

Once again, we will be sending out a curriculum / topic booklet. This will inform you about your child’s learning for the Spring term.

On Friday 24 th October we would love all the children to wear as much pink as possible and, also, give a generous donation towards the Breast Cancer Campaign. This is a really worthwhile cause and we hope everybody feels compelled to join in with our PINK day and help us tackle breast cancer.

Mums and Dads - why don’t you join in and bring the children to school dressed in PINK? How much pink can we get in the school playground on FRIDAY 24th OCTOBER?

Also, if your child is in year 1 or above they are allowed to get out of the car and go straight onto the playground where Mrs Tee will be waiting. She is always on the playground by 8.30am.

Kiss and Drive is a great initiative and is really helpful to everybody who uses it. Please be kind, patient and smiley if you are going to use this wonderful service!

We offer supervision from 8.30am onwards on the school playground.

At the end of the day, children whose parents are late can be collected from the Year 1 & 2 EZONE area. We ask that if you are going to be late, please could you let the school know as soon as possible.

Please remember school gates will be closed at 3.30pm and parents and children will be asked to leave the school site. This procedure has been put in place so children are not left playing on the school site unsupervised. This will hopefully enhance our safeguarding procedures. I ask that all parents support us in this initiative by being off the school site by 3.30pm.

The P.T.A. is an excellent organisation through which we manage to raise over £9,000 every academic year. If you feel you would like to be a part of this organisation, or even learn more about how the P.T.A. is organised, please come along, share a glass of wine, and celebrate our success.

The children look absolutely gorgeous in their new September uniforms, so could I ask that we maintain these standards throughout the year. 

Please remember…..

NO jersey material for trousers, skirts, pinafores.

The colour for trousers, shorts, skirts and dresses is grey, not blue or black.

SCHOOL PE KIT is also part of the school uniform. Please can you ensure that your child has their PE kit in school at all times. May I suggest your child brings their PE kit in to school on Monday and takes it home on a Friday.

This way we are guaranteed that children always have their PE kits!!!

Please can I remind you that absence from Showing Off week affects not only your child’s results but also the school’s published results and, therefore, does not give a true indication of the achievements of particular year groups.

Could I ask all year 5 and 6 parents ( but especially Year 6 ) to ensure their children are in school during the week of…..

Our Infant sports day is on Friday 27th June beginning at 9.30am. (If postponed due to bad weather, this will be on Wednesday 2nd July at 9.30pm )

THE BOOK FAIR IS COMING! 

The book fair is visiting our school next week! It will be open on Wednesday 5th and Thursday 6th March  after school from 3.15pm in the school hall. (Wednesday for infants & Thursdays for juniors)   This will be an excellent opportunity to introduce the children to a wide and varied range of good quality books. At the same time you will be also helping the school to get new books for our class book corners through the brilliant commission we earn on each book sold.  Payment can be made in cash or by card at the book fair. Don’t forget to bring your £1 World Book Day token too!  

WHOLE SCHOOL BOOK DAY 

We will be celebrating by having a WHOLE SCHOOL BOOK DAY on Thursday  6th March. We would like the children to come dressed as their favourite character from a book. Please remember you do not have to go out and buy a costume - with a little bit of imagination, you can go homemade! We can’t wait to see their costumes and our Year 6 Reading Ambassadors will be choosing a fancy dress winner from each class!

This year, the money raised went towards supporting V RADIO in buying Christmas presents for children in West Sussex. Aliyah Jones, Skylar Edwards and Reagan Rhodes went to Sainsbury’s with Miss Webster and bought Christmas presents for underprivileged children in the South of England and then delivered them to V1 Radio station.

The other junior classes also have the chance to ‘show-off’ during this month. As a school it is really important that all children have the opportunity to show their teachers exactly what they can do!!!  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you wish to discuss this further.

• PE Kit – please remember to send your child’s PE kit into school at the beginning of the week. It can stay in school for the entire week, ensuring that your child always has a PE kit. At Aldingbourne School we value PE massively and, unless we have had a message from you via a note, email or a phone call, we expect all children to participate in all aspects of PE.
• Please can we ask parents to keep children off the Adventure Playground, Sensory Trail, Castle, Pirate ship, Ramble Route and The Rock at the end of the day. These areas are not supervised and our school RULE is very simple - if the chain is on, that means these areas are closed!!!!
• PLEASE NO DOGS  allowed on the school site at any time!
• At lunchtime, a chocolate biscuit is allowed, but please try not to give your children chocolate sweets such as Mars Bars.
• Healthy Snacks please. A plain biscuit or a piece of fruit!
• Remember to check for headlice weekly!
• Please remember no nail polish or jewellery should be worn at school.
• Label ALL UNIFORM!!!
• No Trainers!!!
• No temporary tattoos.
• Smiling is compulsory at Aldingbourne Sch0ol!!
